Question Front end not locking?

Anybody having any issues with the front end not locking in 4whl drive? Taking mine back to the dealer this week to have them take a look, but they haven't seen/heard anything about this issue.

Weekend's tally:
Maverick: Bent inner tie rod (why they made it out of aluminum...)
Rzrs: 3 bent A arms, 2 broken axles

I think I won!

See the discussion in the forum:
Is it true the Maverick doesn't have a QE front diff?
That didn't really answer my question, but Husband understood it! Apparently the Maverick doesn't lock, particularly in rock type conditions.

QE

Hello my Maverick friends. I am new to hear and my Maverick is only a week old. BUT I LOVE IT. The mechanic told me that the Qe might not engage right unless you stop and put it in 4 wheel. Do not do it on the fly. This could be your problem, I thought i might mention it. Mine seems to work great in deep mud and rocks. Pulls me right thru. Thanks!

Ok, think of the tie rod as the weak link (by design). I would much rather, bend or break a tie rod (already did) than destroy a steering rack, or bend a spindle. When I bent mine I was several miles out in the BIG dunes at Glamis. We were able to turn the tie rod to a position that I could drive out of the dunes, and make the necessary repairs. I put a chrome molly sleave over the fubared tie rod and enjoyed 2 more days of duning. With a heavy duty tie rod, the hit I took from about a 15 foot jump off a dune, would have probably destroyed the steering rack. Not a cheap or easy fix in the dunes or anywhere else for that matter. I'll take the fix the way I like my women...CHEAP and EASY. lol I now carry spares.
